Martin’s Bar & Restaurant is located at Highlands End Holiday Park, on the cliff tops overlooking the Dorset and Devon coastline. We were asked to design the new extension that was built to create a larger venue for entertainment and food. Part of the design brief was to display the clients own large private collection of fire engine memorabilia in a fun and engaging way whilst allowing customers to dine in the midst of the collection. Though our design we wanted to take visitors on a journey whilst relaxing and enjoying social time within the space.
We designed bespoke display cabinets, display boards and bespoke wallpapers all helping to tell the story of the local fire brigade. Complimenting the bold colour and form of the memorabilia, we introduced materials such as reclaimed wood, tarnished metal and stone, together with blue and grey colours. Through the use of different types of seating we created distinct zones for the lounge, bar and the dining areas. Large bi-folding doors opening out onto the terrace created a seamless inside out in the summer.
