Client: Lime Tree Cafe
Location: Tremenheere Gardens, Cornwall
Working along side the client as lead design consultants, we were asked to provide concept ideas for an art cafe within Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens. The building is surrounded by contemporary art by internationally renowned artists including James Turrell, David Nash and Richard Long and the interior design of the space needed to complement the surroundings by combining nature with art.
Natural light is harnessed to enhance the environment, giving the cafe a gallery quality. The main counter was formed on site using douglas fir strips set in to a cast concrete unit and this gave the cafe a sculptural feel. Bespoke locally sourced light timber tables, long benches, white walls and pockets of lime greens and yellow colours gave the space a tranquil feel allowing customers to relax, reflect and socialise.
