Land’s End Airport

Project Description

Client: Isle of Scilly Steamship co.

Location: Lands End, Cornwall

We were asked to be involved in the design of the interior and parts of the outside space of a new build multi million pound passenger terminal at Land’s End Airport. Working with the architecture we maximised key features of the design and developed the space from the passengers perspective.

We placed the lounge seating along the large floor to ceiling windows, allowing views of the airfield and the Isles of Scilly beyond. We opened up the ceiling to expose the timber structure which allowed us to suspend large bespoke drum shades, printed with historical airport photos, adding colour and a sense of movement to the main hall. Large original art works are placed throughout the scheme to give strong flashes of colour and shape. The space also features a raised wood burner and natural stone cladding to help create a welcoming warmth to the entrance. Working with a Cafe Republic franchise we designed the cafe and exterior terrace which is part of the main building.
